Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin, of Le Monde Beryl, Answer the DADA 5

Established in 2015 by friends Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin, Le Monde Beryl was born out of a desire to create a classic flat shoe which would be as stylish and refined as it is practical and comfortable — the result being a new take on the classic Venetian gondolier’s slipper. Le Monde Beryl combines exotic fabrics and traditional techniques with a contemporary deign aesthetic which takes its inspiration from the historical, the cultural and the crafted. Each slipper is handmade in Florence using traditional techniques and the highest quality materials.

3. And what would be a Symbol of a very good night?
Lily: If everyone has found spare beds and is still there for breakfast.
4. What's your go-to dinner party outfit?
Lily: An antique silk French shirt and well worn jeans with my Le Monde Beryl regency mules or a silk caftan, the Pearl, Amethyst and garnet necklace from our jewelry collection and Le Monde Beryl Morrocan slippers.
Katya: I would pair my Regency Mules with a silk crepe de chine slip dress from either The Row or Raey and also wear the long cardigan from Extreme Cashmere over my shoulders.
5. What's your go-to make-at-home cocktail?
Lily: A paloma cocktail: tequila, grapefruit juice, sparkling water, lime juice and some sea salt.
And some bonus DADA content!
Lily's entertaining tip:
I always have flowers on the table and around the house, either from my garden or wildflowers depending on the time of year. My teenage son illustrates place cards for every dinner party of mine which is my favorite thing because they are always really beautiful but also funny and personal. And lastly, I usually have a Polaroid camera lying around somewhere for people to use so I can keep a collection of memories.
Lily's playlist:
This is my absolute favorite dinner party mix which is a compilation of Ethiopiques songs. Most albums were released during the 1960s and ‘70s.
